Went to a course recently about DRG stim and was wondering what are yalls experience and outcomes with it? The looping seemed annoying and difficult to me compared to conventional SCS. apparently it has less chance of tolerance/habituation, but otherwise I did not see too much of a benefit compared to traditional SCS.
Are yall doing a lot of DRG trials/implants? what have been some takeaways if you are doing it currently

thank you very much

It's fun to place, but a giant PITA when lead migrates or lead fractures. Non-reprogrammable if pain pattern shifts. I stopped doing them.
ditto

Agree with these working the best for focal foot pain. Had good success with S1 DRG trials but no longer do them.

Yes, I basically only do them for focal foot/anke pain. I have implanted two gentlemen late 40s to 50s in the past 6 months. They are have fairly physical jobs. At their post ops they were 90% better. Hopefully, they don’t break the leads.

Anyone using this for testicular pain or other idiopathic pelvic/perineal pain?

I'm seeing good initial results for this, but sample size very low.

Are you guys using L1, S1, S2, and/or S3?

I avoid utilizing if lots of central sensitization or unreasonable pain related behaviors. Idiopathic pelvic pain often (but not always) comes with IBS, CFS, POTS, FMS, mood disorders, migraines, etc, and we know neuromodulation outcomes for these populations is worse.

if i can get away with SCS i stick with SCS. only time i will consider use - foot CRPS and ilioinguinal neuralgia
