Explain poor academic performance word limit
Started by aries12r40
Keep it short and sweet. No excuses. Then, you'll be below the limit. Can someone tell me how many words (with space) are allowed in the section of "Explain your poor academic performance?"
Thanks.
They ask that sort of thing on the application? I had no idea.

Leave it blank. There would be a lot of people who still do not know what they were doing.my academic performance was poor the first 2 years of college, then got much better the last two. how do you say, 'i didn't know what i was doing' without it sounding like an excuse? or would you then just leave it blank?

the only section close to this is "Has your education ever been interrupted or affected adversely for reasons other than deficiencies in conduct or academic performance?", but i think this is to be used more for significant outside circumstances, not to make excuses because you were immature your first year.

Yeah, this is the one that I am referring to. So anyone knows how many words (with space) for this one?😕

i believe the limit is 500 characters not including spaces
I believe the limit is 500 characters INCLUDING spaces. They do not give you enough space for you to treat this as an "Explain your poor academic performance?" section. Do not treat this section as a place where you can come up with an excuse for every bad grade you had because it's not and they don't give you a lot of space. 500 characters WITH SPACES would turn out to be less than 100 words most likely.
Oh, and for your information the wording of the section is:
Has your education ever been interrupted or affected adversely for reasons other than deficiencies in conduct or academic performance?
FYI: This section is more for people who took time off from school or had a major (one time) crisis than a free-for-all give me all your excuses section.
600 characters.
i was guessing based off my answer which i have saved. it was 101 words, 486 characters no spaces, 586 characters with spaces.
Yea, so it seems to be 600 characters with spaces. And AASDAS counts all answers as characters with spaces I believe. I never saw a section that was counted by words or characters without spaces. Even the personal statement section is characters with spaces.

"Not knowing what you were doing" would count as "a deficiency in academic performance".
