EXPLAIN to me (if anybody has a clue) what is going if I have been complete for 2 months at some schools...like 8..and this haven't been rejected or offered an interview. Whats the deal? Is this bad, good, so-so. Anybody have a clue or has experience this before where it has ended with say an interview at best? Thanks guys.

I was complete at half a dozen schools for 2 or 3 months and didn't hear anything. One school I'm still active at (Northwestern) has had all my stuff since 8/11 and still not a word. I dunno how to interpret this. Good luck!

theDr i think you have posted about some schools offering interviews correct?

Anyway no news is good news. It means that they may still want to contact you. Are the schools that you are talking about non-rolling or .. .?

Some schools are just slow ....

It probably means that you're borderline to the adcoms. You're not outstanding, but you're not bottom of the barrel. Statistically, if you apply to enough schools, the balance may tip in your favor and you get an interview.

i think im outstanding dammit. jk

People kept telling me "no news is good news," but it was only a couple of weeks ago that I had it explained to me exactly what that means.

Most schools review applications on a continuous basis. When they get to your file, they will review it (with however many people they use to review) and then either mark it "invite for interview," "hold," or "reject." Each time through, more people are weeded out from either end (i.e. they're either invited to interview or they're rejected). If you haven't been rejected yet it means you're in that group in the middle which is continuously shrinking...which means you're being compared to a smaller and smaller number of people each time. Plus, more of the really strong candidates are being removed each time through, so you're not competing with as many of those folks.

Of course, you're not competing with as many of the really weak candidates, either--and each time through, more interview slots are filled. So it's not an entirely positive thing...but rest assured, as long as you haven't gotten a rejection, you're still very much in the running!

Some schools are just notoriously slow. Eg in my case it was the UCs but for some other people i know it's Cornell. So it really depends. Which are those 8 schools?

NYMC, tufts, temple, drexel, NJMs, GW, Penn (continue review),

Oh great, those are schools i applied to. So, i will be on for a wait...

BTW, Drextel was extremely slow with sending out secondaries. Mine got lost/ not send after 3 phonecalls conforming that it was mailed out. that is a sight of not such a great organization system. so, it might be the school that is slow and might have nothing to do with your qualifications.

I am in the same boat as you for all of the schools you listed except for Tufts, which I didn't apply to. I have received interviews in IL and WI, so I'm assuming I'm in that "middle", continue to review category at the east coast schools. At least I'm hope so since I haven't gotten rejections yet.

well, at least I know its not just me.

I called NYMC because I have been complete there since mid-sept. They told me that on many applications, they are waiting for fall grades before offering interviews. My application is kind of mediocre (not so stellar numbers but stellar everything else), so I can see why they are waiting. Perhaps you fall into this category?

well I graduated undergrad with a very high GPA and i am currently in grad school for my MPH...so i don't know..i'll give them a call this week

THis IS a very unpredictable process. I was completed in August for some schools and still no words yet, even though these schools are rolling or semi rolling (Northwestern, UVA, USC Keck).

It's not until recently that I got my interviews from Dartmouth and Wake Forest...although after consideration, I'm going to withdraw from both.
