For schools that do not accept AP credit for prereq coursework, how would I explain this in the prereq section of the secondaries that I will only take the class if accepted into the program (since I've already completed undergrad)? Thanks for your help!

Med schools take people "as is". Don't be surprised that a school may not want to accept you if you have not completed the prereqs to their satisfaction. They want to see how you handle the coursework in college.

Thank you for your input. I am aware of the fact that I can be rejected solely based on the fact that I did not meet the prerequisites of the program. However, I do understand that many programs require completing of prereqs prior to matriculation, not necessarily prior to an offer of acceptance, so I am coming more from the perspective assuming that I am still a valid applicant if I haven't completed certain prerequisites.

To clarify, it appears the mostly my English and Math prereqs are not necessarily satisfied in all programs due to the fact that I tested through Calculus AB, BC, and statistics via the AP exam in high school.

If you have enough leftover credits next year, I'd recommend still taking those classes or higher level calculus/statistics courses regardless. I'm assuming you set your schedule and pick classes in December/January for the spring semester. What will happen if you aren't signed up for a math course for that semester and you are accepted in March? You won't have that prereq satisfied and will need to take it over the summer (if allowed). Some schools (don't remember which on the top of my head) even require prereqs to be taken by January of the year you will matriculate.

One problem with waiting to take pre-reqs is that you may not be accepted until the end of the year - possibly even August - when it is no longer possible to take those classes. What is your plan if that is the case? I've heard they will look at your transcripts and rescind the acceptance. I'm in a similar predicament with some of my classes being too old for some schools and I have decided to take those classes this year even if I have other priorities because I don't want to be prevented from matriculating based on classes I did or did not take.

This means I'm taking another English class (I have one semester already and two semesters from AP), and two upper level Physics classes even though I'm an engineer. It's not ideal, so I definitely understand your perspective!

I think many CC's offer accelerated (5-10 week) long courses that can be used to satisfy prerequisites. Unfortunately I've already graduated college.

Oh, I graduated 15 years ago. Hasn't held me back (although I am a a little miffed at paying $700 for an additional English class). I just think it's something you should seriously consider as you might not have a chance to do the classes later.

On the other hand, you could choose to do the classes during the summer if you are waitlisted. In that case, just tell schools that you plan to take classes later this year.
