A 2nd-look is useful if you want to learn more about the day-to-day functioning of a program. It is NOT a way to push your name to the top of a rank list. So, it may be high yield, but probably not the way you're thinking of it. LOIs are worth slightly less than the paper they're written on.

How much does your rank list matter? Umm...it's kind of the only thing that does matter. Hopkins, Duke, Stanford, Michigan and MGH could all rank you #1 but if you don't rank them at all, you're not going there.

You guys gum up the system like crazy in the last 72 hours, so most of us are finished ranking at least a week before the deadline. But, each program will have their own timeline.
