Externship applications

What do programs look for when you apply to externships? If I dont have a CBSE score yet, will they hesitate to let me extern there? Do they accept people based on class rank? Or can basically anyone go extern if they want to?

I would lean more toward the notion that anyone who wants to go can go. I'm sure some select programs have stringent selection criteria. It's more a matter of submitting the necessary documentation and immunizations on time.
