So I graduated already, but my gpa is somewhat borderline for MD (got some interviews last cycle), MCAT is fine for MD. I think a few classes worth of good grades could improve my situation a lot. Is it advised to take extra courses (a semester full of science or two as an informal post-bacc) to get me more in line with medical school standards or should I focus on something else.

What are your GPA and MCAT exactly? And have you applied this cycle too (and results)?

You should be getting in somewhere with these stats, unless your ECs are lacking. Any weak point you can see on that front?

I'm not versed in school lists interpretation, but you should post yours here so others can comment on it. Perhaps you aimed to high.

Don't think so, just the grades, the MCAT is pretty balanced and nothing came up during interviews, just got waitlisted at all of them last year. If it makes any difference.

3.5 both and 514. Silence overall.

62% of applicants with your stats were admitted to medical school in 2012.
Your GPA is on the low side but not disastrous, unless you have a downward trend (strong grades early and low grades later).

So I'd advise you to post your school list and ECs so people can help you better.

If you were waitlisted everywhere last cycle your interviewing skills might be deficient too.
Most colleges offer training on that aspect, you should look into it.

I suggest maybe improving your interview skills and preparing better (and make sure you are wearing a suit to these interviews). Make sure you have shadowing and plenty of ECS. Your MCAT is definitely fine. If none of these work then maybe take a few extra science classes like pathophysiology, histology, genetics, immunology, etc but I kind of feel like that's a waste of money because your GPA is not bad. You should be getting some love from somewhere unless your interview skills or ECs are lacking. Have you considered DO because you have good stats for DO?
