what is the benefit of doing extra curricular activities during optometry school, besides doing it "just for fun"? do leadership positions help you get jobs? is this something employers look for? do they come in to play when applying for residencies? thanks for the replies.

Whether you are applying for a job or a residency you will be submitting a CV. Extra curriculars would be something you would want to include on your CV to make it look more attractive (Especially if you held leadership positions).
