Average GPA and MCAT, trying to boost my chances with some extra curriculars. Here's what I have so far. Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

-research
--dissecting brachial plexus in cadavers with anatomy professor for research publication
-- dissecting facial musculature of rhesus macac monkeys for research publication

-volunteering
--over 1200 hours as athletic training student, while undergrad
--EMT-B volunteer for over 1 year
--volunteer at a hospice as patient visitor for 8 months

-Work
--work in a hospital as patient care technician for over 1 year
--work study for three years as undergrad
--tutor for 4 science related courses

-shadowing
--4 different docs in different specialties for varying amounts of time

Anything helps. Thanks.

You have a nice variety of clinical experience, and adequate shadowing. You have teaching and interesting research. I don't see a leadership experience, so that would be a good area to develop this next year. If you have the time, a non-medical form of community service would be nice to see too.

I am going to mirror what Mobius said. You have nothing outside of the medical realm. Maybe consider joining a club that interests you? I personally joined a club concerning animal sciences because I wanted to know more about horses. ( I am a dude who has never been around them, just wanted to know more...).

You could do the same with a hobby or yours. Maybe something political or community oriented like helping at a soup kitchen? Good luck!
