I am a senior right now and have already submitted my AMCAS and secondaries to the med schools I am applying to. I know this sounds bad but I recently got interested in applying to Honor Court. I got accepted and now I am thinking it is a huge time committment. I am taking a full courseload and have other extra-curriculars as well. I was wondering whether it is worth it to do it and further cut down study time. Does Honor Court look really good to med schools? I know I should do it for myself, but I need that reassurance that it will be worth it to sacrifice grades if I am going to make myself even busier than I already am...

I have no idea what Honor Court is but if you like to do it, then do it. If not and it makes you miserable then don't. If you ultimately become a better person for doing this activity and it gives you more character then who cares if your grades will drop slightly. I personally wouldn't live my life the way a hypothetical admissions committee would want you to.

if you've already submitted your AMCAS, was it on there or not? if it was, i'd say you better do honor council. if not, then i wouldn't do it.

since the above poster's answer is not at all what you were looking for, i'll try to give you my opinion. honor council is a great activity, but so are a lot of other ones that would be less time consuming. if it's not health-related and you don't thoroughly enjoy it, it's not worth keeping.

Thanks for your reply Laura....It wasn't on my AMCAS so I dont think I will be doing it....Also, you are right...the second poster's response was not the advice I was looking for...Gotta love the holier than thou people 🙂
