Does anyone know if never scoring above the 25th percentile on previous standardized testing like the SAT, ACT, etc increases your chances of getting extra time on the MCAT?

EDIT: They ask you to include standardized testing scores if you took them in the past, IE SAT. They also require a comprehensive evaluation done by a licensed individual to verify you have a disability.

Nah, I am pretty sure you need a legitimate time-specific mental disorder to qualify. It's really hard to get apparently.

I know. They ask for previous standardized testing scores as well, provided you took them as well as a comprehensive evaluation.

Really? I think that is to show that you've had the condition for a while as it would be noted with your ACT/SAT scores years back. Otherwise, people might try to game the system and get extra time on the MCAT. I don't think getting below a certain score would raise your chances though

I can't imagine adding a "mental disorder" to your overall record for more time on the MCAT would be worth it.

I don't think we can assume OP is just trying to take advantage of the system.

My advice would still be to try and soldier through the exam.

If the OP didn't need this sudden "disability" for any exams in college, but only needs them on the MCAT, then that's almost suspect.

I did have them for exams.

Maybe its legit then. Do you have to disclose to medical schools that you need extra time on exams/Standardized tests?

I’ve successfully applied and gotten accommodations for the MCAT and have answered questions from other SDN users about doing the same. PM me if you have further questions.

What the MCAT folks want, in addition to all of he above you have mentioned, is proof that without the accommodations your disability would cause you to be at a severe disadvantage. A good example is contrasting your significantly improved test scores and/or grades once you received accommodations. One or more of the tests in the panel of tests done by licensed provider needs to demonstrate this too! In your cover letter you’ll need to explain this and point to what they need to look at in your file. I guarantee you will NOT get extended time without demonstrating this expicitly.
