I think there is a "careers in vet med" thing at Tufts, but I know nothing about it.

I would really try to expand on your shadowing experiences. The summer is a perfect time because you can be there during hours you can't while you're in school.

Also, you might want to see if there are any conferences happening near you. I wouldn't go out of your way if there isn't a close one, but if there is, they are very interesting. You usually can register as "pre-vet" which is typically severely discounted.

Summy might also be a good time to tour/meet with vet schools you are interested in. I don't know how far out your are from applying, but if you have a school you really like you could meet with them to see how to improve your application and/or just visit schools you are really interested in to see if you really like them

thanks horseyvet, we have a program here at tuskegee call CERT. i can't remeber what that stands for😳 . but its a summer program that prepares you for vet school by giving a couple of classes such as introduction to veterinary medicine. so i was wondering if there were other programs the this around?? but i will definately check out tuffs web site.

i was also wondering if someone could explain to me the difference between internships and externships😕

An externship is for students currently in vet school, and an internship is for vet school grads

I didnt see this post earlier, when i made a new topic. I know Peterson and Smith equine hospital in Ocala, fl has semster programs available, for hospital, ambulatory, and equine reproduction. I am currently in an ambulatory position. I belive that the students can get some credit for their work from their school, also students are paid a little and the clinic provides housing. Its a great, but busy opportunity.
