Hey Everyone Hows it going out there?

With the majority of us in the process of submitting or have already submitted as in my case I have a question. When we all started we were scrambling to find opportunities outside of the class that we had genuine interest in but also to check off stuff from the list of practically required things such as volunteering and research. Well I have submitted and now comes the waiting game, but does anyone have any advice regarding continuing ecs after applying. Don't get me wrong I am not implying to stop all of the activities I am a participating in, but is there any way that I can use an activity to my advantage toward medical school even after submitting the app. For example, if I were to find a research opportunity now that I was not aware of before submitting would it be worth bringing up in the interview? Or just in general what do u guys think of just pursuing something of that sort even if it won't help your app (mostly cause adcoms wont be aware of it). I am really interested in some stuff UCSF is doing and I only was aware of it now and if I do get involved I was wondering what I would do with the experience.

Thanks fellow SDNr's!!!😍

If you pick up something significant, then you can submit an update letter to the schools letting them know. I wouldn't quit the activities until after interviewing since it will look more genuine if they are "present" when you are interviewing. Technically, you can quit anything you want after submitting the app and it's not considered lying since you were involved at the time of submitting the application.

You should do whatever you want from this point out. If you don't know if something will help, then only do it if you genuinely want to. Once you get an acceptance to your top choice, it's a good time to drop everything unless you actually enjoyed doing it. Good luck!

Thanks for your advice. I will definitely keep that in mind. From what I understand many medical schools offer research opportunities to there students so I would probably drop most of them if I get into the school of my choice. Thanks again!
