so far I have no clinical or shadowing experience and have yet to complete any pre reqs. If I were to take chem 1 this summer and do all clinical experience and shadowing in a year(and take a couple pre reqs after applying) would I be able to apply for fall 2019 admission?

Nope, I do not recommend it! Apply in Fall 2019 with pre-reqs done and EC's piled up.
With no pre-reqs done, EC's aren't the only thing you have to worry about.

Unfortunately if you were to try that, I think adcoms would see you the same why I do by this post: wanting to apply to medical school on a whim with no real insight or committment.

I'm also hoping to matriculate in 2019 and I agree with the other posters, it seems like you may have made the decision on a whim. I have about 3 pre req's left, more than 3000 hospital hours and I'm still doubting that I will be able to apply in 2018. How are you planning to take the Mcat with so many outstanding pre req's? I've heard of people self teaching but it would be difficult if enrolled in a FT science course load and trying to study while getting stellar grades.

Take some pre reqs first. They are the best gauge to determine whether or not you want to do this.

I'm in a gap year right now and I, like you, desperately wanted to try to be one of those people who goes to med school right out of a 4 year college program. But it wasnt realistic cause I came late to deciding I wanted to do this. In the grand scheme of things, its only one year of your life man. Apply when you are ready. And see how these pre reqs sit with you first.

I graduated a few years ago and would mostly apply to DO schools. I am planning on shadowing a few doctors and figuring out if I should proceed.
