I know there isn't a set number of extracurriculars to have, but lately it seems like some of my fellow posters here at SDN are in MILLIONS of clubs, but I'm only in four: American Red Cross Club, pre-pharmacy association, student art guild, and I started a dance club with a friend. I do volunteer activities with these clubs and I think I'm pretty active. Is this enough, or would you think I need to join another club or two? I know this seems like kind of a dumb question, but I've just been worrying about it lately. Thanks!

Better to have quality service in a few clubs than superficial service in a dozen. From what I've seen and heard on SDN and elsewhere, AdComs will appreciate deep commitment to a couple of ECs more than a laundry list of clubs. If you can demonstrate that commitment, you should be safe (my opinion).

Just FYI -- I am only involved in a couple of ECs myself. I do weekly service for PAWS (Pets Are Wonderful Support) and I am volunteering at a local hospital.

Well, you got me beat, and I got accepted. I had essentially no ECs, just a part time job. So I agree with the idea that its not about how many you have, its how dedicated you are to those that you care about (i worked 20 hours a week). So don't stress over not being able to fill every box on the application...just show what you have done, and the dedication you are capable of.
