Hey people!

I have a question about extracurriculars. The pharmcas app allows you to put up to 20... how many does everyone have? I was going to try to fill mine up with as many as possible, but I feel like the admissions committee will roll their eyes when they see stupid(?) things like 5K runs for education. What do you think? And also, I tutored many of my peers in gen chem and o-chem... it wasn't really formal, I would just meet up with them once or twice a week and help them with labs, homework, and understanding concepts in general. How do I write that on my app?

Thanks!

They ask for the dates and hours committed to your EC. I would list EC's that you committed a good amount of time to. If you helped coordinate the run and invested time setting it up I would list it. If you only ran in it I wouldn't list it because it'll just look like fluff.

Write the app for the tutoring position like if it was a formal position. To your best ability list the dates, hours per week, and responsibilities tutoring.

I wasn't getting paid and it wasn't really formal... should I still list it under work experience? Thanks!

Cut the BS. Keep the informal stuff as points in your essays. If it can't be worked into an essay, then is the experience really worth something to an adcom when all they want to know is if you're a good pharmacy student or not?

True! Thanks 🙂

I think you should definitely put down "Student Tutor" with a description like Provided one-on-one help to Chemistry students doing ... If you spent alot of time & can work it into your essay do so.
