What's your overall GPA after combining the 2.7 and 3.98? What's your science GPA? Also, it's hard to judge without an MCAT score.

What is your cGPA and sGPA? On the surface, your post-bac work is the type of thing we love to see. You may be competitve for some MD schools too. Just rock the MCAT!

Make sure your GPAs end up being close or better to 3.4 with at least 2 upper division science classes in the rest of your semesters before your application cycle. Do what you can to make your MCAT over 30 and tie in all of your great ECs with strong LORs from people that can speak to what you did in them and apply to DO schools.

Thank you kindly for your message. My cumulative gpa is 3.22 based on 203 credits (120 credits from Waterloo and 83 credits from UB). My science gpa is only based on 62 credits from UB and is 3.98 however I did take several math courses at Waterloo and I suspect that those will be included and if so, would bring me to a 3.8 unfortunately.

As for taking additional senior courses, I will not be able to do so, I am going through the prehealth committee right now. The only thing I am doing now is the continuation of my volunteering and shadowing.

Based on what I have told you and the information in my original posting, what are your thoughts on my
ability to compete for DO admission? MD?

GPA wise your science GPA will be 3.98 for DO (they don't count mathematics in the science GPA), and will be the 3.8 for MD (they do count Math in their science GPA).

You already know your overall GPA, but you have an immense upward trend which will only be looked upon favorably.

Nail the MCAT and apply broadly to both MD and DO, you should do pretty well.

If you score below 30, focus on DO applications (but still apply to some MD's too, check the MSAR to find out which ones will be the most open to your application and circumstances).

If you score above 30, then throw more MD apps into the mix.

Best of luck!
