Hey everyone,

I am looking to start pre-writing secondaries to prepare for this upcoming cycle. I have recently completed an SMP and have done very well and took the old MCAT last January with an ok composite score. I would have retaken it, but coursework from my SMP and thesis took over much of my time and I worried that studying for the new MCAT would be too much to handle.

For my stats: 3.4 cGPA/3.3sGPA undergraduate GPA at a competitive university and 4.0 at my SMP.

For my MCAT I have a composite score of 31. Breakdown is PS: 9 VR 15 BS 7

I am hoping my VR score and work at my SMP will convince medical schools that I am capable to do the work, but I honestly have no idea how the MCAT turned out the way it did.

Currently looking to apply low tier MD/ DO. Do I have a shot?

Well 15+6+5 is 26 not 31 last time I checked

If you aced an SMP and don't really think you can do better than 10-15th percentile on bio that's a pretty big red flag.

Retake the mcat. A 15 on verbal is something most Harvard med students could only dream of. A 15 in verbal indicates you likely have the ability to do far better in the sciences its just a matter of better preparation.

Sorry, mixed up my MCAT score with something else I was doing at the same time. Edited to fix it

Still definitely retake the 7 in bio if you aced an SMP you should be able to do way way better than 25th percentile on that section. Youll make your life much easier on yourself with 127's or even 126's on every section of the new MCAT.

I can't sugarcoat this....that BS score is lethal and I'd probably reject you outright for it. Didn't you learn anything in college?

So you've taken the MCAT more than once? And a 7 Bio is the best that you can do? This doesn't bode well. I agree that a retake is in order.

Quite astonished at the 15 in VR. That being said, Goro is right - your aptitude in biological sciences needs to improve (by a lot).
