I need to rant,
I requested that my transcripts over a month ago, also, to make up for my somewhat late start I paid extra for two day mail. I kept checking the status of my transcripts, hoping that soon I would be processed and have some secondaries. Yesterday, I decided to call because my repeated emails did nothing but further frustrate me. I called and spoke to some lady who told me promptly that they had not received any transcripts as of 7-19.
Today I requested new transcripts and paid the extra fee again. then when I got back to my lab, I checked my status(out of habit) and the page says "transcripts received on 7-16"

WTF!!! 👎 👎

I hope this doesn't hurt my chances

AACOMAS is very disorganized and has countless problems. They told me my transcript wasn't received. I called back the next day and the guy found it. Turns out they had it for over a month. 🙄

Thank God my application is out of the hands of AACOMAS now. 😀

i totally understand how frustrated this whole process is. dont worry tho secondaries are not even really been sent out. Ive only received four of seven and im not going to turn them in until the end of august. look online for some of them, a lot of them are thru snail mail. you could call the offices to ask for essay questions. best of luck dood!

We should all take a group trip to Chevy Chase. I called Friday (7/16) and they were closed, even thouh the recording said they were open on Fridays. So the next Thurs I call and specifically ask if they are open on Fridays and the guy said yes. So I call that Friday (yes.....I'm a psycho....I call them almost every day) and what the hell......their closed. It like there's a bunch of highly skilled monkies working over there.

Don't get me started on their IT staff there. Took them a month to fix a coding error on their website that *I* myself pointed out. Nothing like having your first and last name reversed on your AACOMAS when it goes out because the fields are reversed in the code and it's dumping your name in the database backwards. Was a fun headache explaining to schools my first name was not "Truxillo." 😀

Anyway, I'm in school now so no more AACOMAS crapola to deal with. My best to you all who are applying. There are some nice people there but it *IS* very disorganized, I agree.

Like most of you, I had similar problems. The only way to get things accomplished with them is to call.....often....and ask politely that something be done immediately.

I did not have any problems with aacomas. Everything went smoothly. I would say your experiences are probably the exception not the norm, but what do I know.

Is it too late to stop your request for further transcripts from your school? Maybe they haven't processed your request yet.

In the overall scheme of things, you will find this to be a minor bump in the road. When interview request come rolling in, you will start to gradually forget the problems you faced getting the application ball rolling.

I applied the first year AMCAS went online and did away with paper applications. That was a nightmare and I had to get a lawyer involved to demand ACMAS put my name on my application and process it. They had someone else's name on my application and wouldn't change it. They also held my application for months and wouldn't process it.

So, really, this to will pass. But I know what you feel like.. Good luck everyone.

i must agree. when i went through the process, it took them a while to update my status even then it turns out it was sent out a while before they said they did. additionally, after that i thought i was in the clear until i get notices from schools saying they cannt accept me because my class list on aacomas says im missing classes. turns out that even though i listed them on my aacomas thing, what they sent out did not have the classes list?? go figure... anyways i email them this, then promptly call them to follow up on my email... and it is fixed in under a week. so im good... i get in... kinda odd.... really... from what ive heard, the time that it finallly got in was actually the best time to get them in because of the size of the app pool, not sooner or later... God is moving dood.....

that's some crazy stuff amy b. they wouldn't process it cuz they had someone else's name? I mean wouldn't they be able to tell you had one social security # and would match your name? What happened after the lawyer was involved, did you get them to apologize?

can't more than agree with you on the whole forgetting thing. I've already forgotten my beef with AACOMAS.

You should call and be sure to mention your transcripts are in your maiden name. I was in the same situation. As soon as I gave them my maiden name they were able to find my transcripts.

i would say lowly skilled monkeys. did anyone notice that under occupation prior to medical school, psychiatrist was listed with psychologist? is it not scary that a "professional medical organization" does not know that you have to be a MD/DO to be a psychiatrist? and that psychiatry and psychology are two very distinct professions. it shows how ignorant they are or how careless they are. i do not know which is worse.
