Hi yall.
My overall GPA is 3.6, Sci GPA is 4.0, however, i had some F grade during my first year. My grade trend is pretty good with all A after that. Did some shadowing, volunteering and community service. Took DAT with AA 23, Sci 24, and PAT 24. Do you think I have high chance of getting in, cuz I worry about those F grade ( F in non-science class btw). What school should i apply to? and what kinda of explanation should I come up with?

Thanks

You are fine, they will ask you about it but Im sure you have a good reason for the grade, dont lie about it. Everything else is great so you wont have anything to worry about.

i don't know if you're joking, but if you're not....

of course you have a shot of getting in. You have a perfect SGPA, an excellent GPA, and 99+ percentile on the DAT. mistakes happen...be honest when asked about your F in the interview. don't BS. the rest of your stats are flawless; therefore, don't screw up your chances by blaming that F on someone besides yourself. sack up & take the blame for your mistake, and you will reap the reward of a seat in dental school.

jb!🙂

I got a 0.93 my first semester, then did a little better, but still got an F here or there...I got in to my first choice school.

Are you serious? What were you final stats?

i failed calculus, got c's in physics 1 and 2, chem 2 honors, and chem lab...

graduated in three years with high honors, did well on the DAT and am currently finishing up my D1 year at the university of michigan.....

will one F kill you...NO!
will a bunch of C's kill you...NO!
will messing up the DAT kill you...YES!

You're just being paranoid... But I'm sure they will ask you about it. My dentist who went to UF said they kept on bringing up the fact that he dropped calc 2 and had a "W" on his transcript. You don't even need calc 2 for dental school. The thing is you can only take remediation classes one time I believe or they give you the boot. That's what he told me. Good Luck, I know you'll get in!

3.8 BCP 3.5 Overall GPA, 22 AA 22TS 19 PAT

I had a bit more than 120 credit hours when all was said and done though

Nice stats. I assume you retook the classes and got high grades in those classes which replaced the F's. On a side note I feel that C's are more harmful to my GPA as it will knock it down and I would have to get 2 A's to remediate that compared to 1 F which can be replaced with the same class with an A.

I did retake the class, and got all A. Remember, that F still count toward your AADSAS GPA though. But the bad thing is, I got more than 1 F 🙁 , well, 3 Fs actually in Composition, and History. Im currently have 115 credit hrs, and without counting the F toward my GPA, then my GPA would be around 3.7-3.8.
