I am a freshmen Pre Med who is really struggling with academics. I currently have an F in Calculus and the period to take a W is over. Most likely I will recive an F in that course. I am also doing kinda bad in my other courses. This transition is insanely difficult for me. Does this F complelty ruin my chances for Med SchooL? Or am I still in the ball game? Any type of motiviation or advice will be appreciated right now. Thank you very much.

You'll be fine if you can pull up your GPA in the next few years and retake that class for a B or an A.

You are in a tough position. An F will not exclude you from contention at med schools, but it will put more pressure on you to show a dramatic improvement.

Most schools require that you have met a math prerequisite. I think they want a year and want you to have taken calc. I am not positive on the calc requirement, the whole application process is kind of a blur now.

Many premed have a first bad semester, maybe a bad year. If you don't have steller grades next year, you might consider a different career path. After all, Med school makes undergrad look like jr. high.

Best of luck to you,

CD

Retake the course. Or try for a retroactive withdrawal. good luck!

Honestly, it is not a good start. Why didn't you seek an academic counselor earlier in the year when you realized you had problems? Even if you retake the course, MD schools count the average. You might have better luck with DO schools where the grade is replaced.
