Hi all,

I submitted my application to AMCAS on Sunday, the first of June, and am not yet verified. On the transcript I sent in two weeks prior (which has been received by AMCAS), I had 55 AP Test Credits listed (as a block sum). Since I did not know which credits applied to what exam, I asked for a breakdown letter from my university.

I received a letter from my University a couple days ago, which said I had 47 AP Test Credits, breaking down the credits I got from each exam. Since these did not match, I asked why my transcript had 55 credits, and my University just said that I actually had 47 credits and that there was some sort of duplication error, and just officially updated my transcript to reflect that. I can now see that it's been changed to 47 credits today.

Well of course, the transcript already sent and submitted into AMCAS has 55 credits. However, I am still pending verification and likely will be for a while... (again submitted June 1st, so probably would not be verified til around the end of the month?). If I send in an updated transcript to AMCAS will that kick my spot out of the verification queue? What should I do in this situation? As a side note, my AMCAS manually entered has the CORRECT AP information (adding up to 47 credits). Thanks!

Contact AMCAS and explain simply that your college discovered an error in the number of AP credits on the first transcript.
Tell them there is now a corrected transcript and a registrar letter detailing the distribution of those AP credits available to send.
Ask them if you should get a different transcript request ID form for this. I don't think it will set you back by very much.

Thank you wysdoc, appreciate the response! I was able to get through to AMCAS today, and you were correct.

For anyone else something similar happens to in the future just to keep a note: The AMCAS representative I spoke to said when in "Ready to Review" phase pre-verification, the reviewer just uses whatever transcript is most recently on file when they get to your application. In addition, resubmitting a transcript does not affect your place in the queue whatsoever.

So if you're able to get the new transcript in before the verification process, they'll use it. You can use the same transcript ID. So you can resubmit following the identical process you originally used. If it doesn't get processed in until after, you'd have to submit an academic change request or something similar and they said you should contact AMCAS again at that point.

Great, glad you were able to speak with someone so quickly
