I know the general rule- the 2nd time gets counted.
But, my situation is a little different. Which one should I count towards my AACOMAS GPA?

Note: I am not applying this year or next year. At the same time, I am not retaking the course (ever again.)

Then be prepared to have a red flag on your app.

Depending on your overall GPA I can't see it having a huge impact. But you better be prepared to answer a question about it in an interview. Oh and I think the F counts because like OrdinaryDO said a W is not a grade

The F. Grade replacement only works when you get a higher grade.

Thanks everyone for the reply!
I am unsure how to close the thread.
Any admin (like @WedgeDawg ) can please close the thread?

I had to retake a bunch of other courses also. I stand on a 3.5 (with retakes) at this point.
Yes, but if the rest of the transcript is good, I'd let him slide.
Would it look like OP gave up on a hard course?
But, this course is not required for premed though. I had to take it because I was a Mechanical Engineering major first, then I switched to Humanities.
I have grades (mostly) on B to A range (except 2 courses) for all the other science courses.

I am curious, do you have to put both grades in when you have a retake and AACOMAS calculates the higher grade, or do you simply forego entering the lower grade?

Unless things have changed you have to put all grades but the latest one counts.

ADCOMs have the responsibilty to find students that can handle the rigors of medical school and pass a subject even if it doesn't interest them. In medical school you have to learn really dry material sometimes.

I'm sure they will be understanding since it's only one course and it's quite difficult. They won't just look at the premed courses though.

OP, you'll be fine!
