I have been lurking on Step 1 forum and have not been on this thread much. A little bit about me-- I had been preparing for step 1 recently ( was planning it around september, but my application was rejected due to techinical errors in signature. Now I cannot reapply as my school office is shut due to vacations. That would mean that i may not be able to give step 1 for another few months.)

I intend to keep aside step 1 books now. I had already done FA+UW+RR and am hot with that stuff.

I am planning to start with step 2 prep now (might take this one in 5 to 7 months)
I am planning to read trough kaplan lecture notes except for IM, plan on using Step Up to Medicine for this. I also intend to use UW along with specific sections i go through.

My Study plan:

Plan to read through particular system and then read that section from FA. Later i intend to solve questions from UW on that topic and put down any notes in FA itself.

Now a little problem-- I have FA 6th edition. Would it be necessary for me to buy 7th edition (latest one) or would it be fine if i use 6th edition and ofcourse have notes from UW in it.

Will appreciate any advise you may have......

I'd say look at certain important topics from the older version, then go to a book store and look at them in the newer version. If you found a big (+) difference, I'd go to the more detailed one. OR you can browse it in Google books if it is already there.

thanks mie820 for the reply.

i will not mind doing what you said but the problem is that i am unaware of material in both the editions. So therefor it will be difficult for me to point out what is missing in what.

I guess what he's suggesting is to read your old copy. Realistically, there won't be a very significant difference between editions. But for the sake of knowing (and perhaps even remembering better), you'd be able to go to the bookstore after reading through the 6th edition and flip through the 7th edition to see if there's anything you don't immediately recognize. I do recall doing that during my Step 1 studies, and noticed that they added a part about headaches in the neuro section.
