In FA's female repro histology, it says that before the transitional zone it should normally be columnar epithelium and after it should be squamous, but Dr. Sattar said that normally squamous cell changes all upper 1/3 columnar into squamous and so it should all normally be squamous epithelium at the end. And if it persists then it's adenosis as seen in women who are exposed to DES. Is that "upper 1/3 columnar part from mullerian duct" only in vagina up to ectocervix or does that also include the part above the transitional zone?

Here's my understanding:
-Embryological development: Columnar from uterus through upper 1/3 of vagina, then squamous for distal 2/3 of vagina
-Finalized development: Columnar up until transition point, then squamous from ectocervix to introitus
-Adenosis = Persistence of embryological arrangement. I've never thought about it until now, but I suppose that would mean their transition zone is moved to the upper 1/3 of the vagina.
