Does anyone do these? I have a local college student that’s requesting one. Are these typically done by those with a forensic background?

I don't imagine they are done by somebody with a forensic background, but I do imagine they are done by someone who is trained to do them, which I'm guessing is not you. Reach out to your malpractice carrier, you're probably not covered to be doing these.

It helps to have more information. The person coming to you for a psychiatric evaluation almost certainly already has an Aviation Medical Examiner or has consulted with one. The evaluation may or may not be within the scope of what you can provide. The FAA has a list of HIMS-trained psychiatrists and neuropsychologists but they do not always require these as part of the evaluation. I recently had a clinic encounter where they had already seen the AME and had a cover letter from the FAA saying they wanted clinical evaluations from several specialists and they did not need to be FAA approved. I did a regular H&P, documented that past problems were in remission and that no further treatment was recommended at this time.

It was confusing. They did have an ame but showed me the report from the previous psychiatrist they used which included recommendations for monitoring I was not familiar with so I had to decline because I couldn’t make those recommendations.
