I have a 3.4 GPA have B.S. and hospital experience, but have not taken the MCAT's. I want to be admitted to a Podiatry Program this upcoming Fall. My question is should I take the MCAT asap (March 28) and have a better chance of being admitted or should I take my time and take the MCAT in April/May to receive a higher score but compete for less seats. As of right now I'm registered for April 28...help😕

Your GPA looks fine. Is that cum or science? You can apply to the schools without MCAT and sometimes they accept you before you take it and tell you to get a certain score to secure your acceptance.

If you decide to take the MCAT before you apply make sure you take it before each schools final MCAT deadline.

Appreciate the insight, that is my cum GPA, my science GPA is around a 3.4. I know AZPOD advised me to apply for the incoming 2010 Class, but the school which has been most helpful has been OCPM, I hope I get in there.:xf:

your gpa is fine, mcat score will define what schools will consider you end up top tier vs lower tier, in the end you have a good chance of getting in to at least one of the schools ......

Can you elaborate which schools are the top tier and which are the lower tier. I applied to 6 of the 9 schools, all but AZPOD, Barry, and Temple.

This topic has been discussed many times and a flame war starts every time. Each school offers different things and everyone has different needs. Try to see if the school you're applying to matches to your needs. There is no such thing as "Top tier" and "Low tier." Especially since there are only 9 schools. Every school leads to a DPM. Its what you do during and after school that counts.

I'm in the same boat. I was going to wait another year for the same reason to apply but the pod I've been shadowing convinced me to go ahead and apply now. MCAT is April 24. I submitted a couple of days ago. My GPA is a bit lower than yours though (3.3 cum, 3.1 sci). We'll see what happens.

Wow, hearing everyone's responses to apply for this cycle; brings my hopes up. I have a 3.4 overall and 3.69 sci GPA with volunteer experience (medically related). I wasn't sure to apply this year but what do you guys think? I tried contacting the schools, but I haven't got a response back. What method are you using to contact the schools, phone or email? If I get all my apps and material in before April 1st, will I be considered for priority admissions? Oh, I already took the MCAT but didn't do so good so I am retaking it again on April 24th. Yay, I'm excited if I can still apply.
