[FONT=Arial, sans-serif]As President of The American Society of Anesthesiologists, I would like to put to rest a frequently asked question: .

[FONT=Arial, sans-serif]Do health insurance companies cover local anesthesia fees the same way they do for regional and general anesthesia? .

[FONT=Arial, sans-serif]The answer is YES. .

[FONT=Arial, sans-serif]Fees are not determined by the type of anesthesia used. Fees are charged based on the Relative Value Guide (RVG) developed by the ASA. The RVG basic units are used as the basis for establishing the maximum level of complexity of surgical procedures for which an anesthesia group will provide anesthesia at an anesthestizing location. Most major insurance companies accept this fee guide..

Uhhh...are you really Dr. Moore, or is this just cut and pasted from something he wrote? Because that would be truly awesome if the ASA president were reading this forum and aware of the concerns and issues its members deal with on a daily basis.

Unfortunately, I think the skeptic in me needs more evidence before I can draw any conclusions. (I'll stop short of calling troll, on the off chance that this is real -- that would be a way to tank any future political ambitions!)

If you really are Dr. Moore, welcome!
