I'm just curious. If you have to choose between 2 schools (or 3 schools) that you may get accepted in less than a week, what are the factors that you will first consider to choose among them?
I got 2 interviews from UCSF and UDM, both went well but they are quite different. I dont know if I can get in, but if magic happens, and I get accepted to both, what are the most important factors I should consider?
Location? Type of population you're going to serve? Faculty? Clinical opportunities?
It will be great if everyone can share their thoughts!

I say cost like Penny above. To me it goes like this.

1. Cost
2. Location
3. Quality of equipment and Accreditation (some of the newer schools are not yet accredited)
4. The mood of current students at interview and atmosphere of campus
5. The last thing I would consider after those before flipping a coin is how hot the girls are at each school lol.

This guy nailed it.

LOL, Thanks so much for two links above and I like your list Titus Times. Does anyone know the estimated cost of UDM. I can't find the info on their websites.
I assume UCSF will be more expensive (I'm out-of-state applicant), but the UDM location is probably my biggest problem. The school is located in kinda ghetto area and transportation wasn't that great in Detroit...><

Go to the most affordable school. Only if you get rejected from DM and accepted to UCSF, should you go to UCSF. Unless you have an urging to want to pursue academics and research. In which case, UCSF might be more appropriate, despite the cost.

Buy a Glock 29.

UCSF is a public school. You should check if you can pay resident tuition after one year in California.GOOD LUCK!!!

You're spot on about the area. It's definitely low-income. Nobody I know lives near the school. Your options are basically downtown Detroit or one of the surrounding suburbs. The suburbs range from blue-collar to upper-income. You should expect a 15 minute drive in my experience. Many of us live in Royal Oak, which is pretty nice and has a strip with bars and restaurants.

The up-side to the poverty near the school is apparently the numerous and complicated cases that come through the clinic. I can't speak to that personally though, because I just started. All I can say is that the waiting rooms are usually crowded. I do know that they let you start building hand skills (drilling and filling) right away though. I thought that was kind of cool.

UCSF is in Califonia. That seems like it would be hard to beat. And not that it's necessarily something you care about, it's supposed to have a big name right?
