PhD/PsyD Faculty job after VA postdoc

Hi all. I was wondering about the possibility of obtaining a tenure track faculty job after completing a VA postdoc. Is this ever done or are you pretty much a VA employee for the rest of your working life if you go the VA postdoc route? Thanks!

TT jobs are somewhat less about where you did your post doc than what you did on post doc. If you have a lot of pubs from your post doc or even got a K award, you'd be in better standing for TT jobs than if you did mostly clinical work and relatively little research on post doc.

VA research postdocs (eg, MIRECC) are more likely to lead to TT jobs than clinical postdocs. But of course there are exceptions.
