Why am I required to pay for FAFSA Standard or Gold at the end of the FAFSA application? It is $80 and I can't seem to skip this step.
It says that "Our automated review identified 2 potential error(s) that could reduce your student aid award."
Is FAFSA Gold really beneficial to me? Should I pay for it and use it?
How do I skip this offer and submit my FAFSA without FAFSA Gold/Standard?

You absolutely should not pay a dime for anything related to the fafsa. You are very likely at the wrong website.

You should be at www.fafsa.ed.gov

Yeah, I just realized... I went to fafsa.com instead
Stupid mistake haha
Thanks

make sure that on fasfa.com you didnt enter your ssn, or dob and name address... these scam sites can easily open credit cards on your name w/o even you knowing about it.

Might want to stay on top of your credit after this too, since you gave them all your info 😛

if you dont mind me asking how did you find fasfa.com...

even if you enter fasfa on your browser it should automatically take you to .gov. did you look for fasfa.com or did you just type fasfa.com

when I searched on google, the first thing that comes up was fafsa.com and it's highlighted which is even worse. I always make sure to go through my schools website to get to fafsa.gov just to make sure. OP, definitely keep an eye on your credit for awhile if you actually submitted info.

you clicked on the advertisement........... haha

I wouldn't worry too much about identity theft from this site, I remember reading about it a few years ago. They actually will submit your info to FAFSA for you, so they actually provide a service. It is an unneeded service, obviously, since entering the info on their website is just as time consuming. If it hasn't changed owners, it is only semi-unethical but not illegal and they will stop making the charge at the $80 or whatever they quoted you.
