General FAFSA question - parent who lives abroad

[Question]

My parents are separated and one of my parents lives abroad. If I get into a private medical school, I may qualify for aid (I know such opportunities are very limited, but I am just stating that I am from a low-income household), so I need to report my parents' info. For FAFSA, do I just need to convert to USD and put in the information? If schools ask for specific tax document, is there a way for me to prepare for such?

That should work. Not sure of any other way to do that. As far as tax documents, maybe ask the school?

does that parent file taxes in the US? if you are an overseas citizen, usually you still have to report your income and file taxes

This is certainly going to be something you need to ask of the specific school you get into. I wouldn't worry about this until you get to that point.
