Hi,

Am I late in filing the fafsa? I filed my taxes last month and was planning to complete fafsa once I get refund from IRS(means tax filing process is complete)

Do I have to give my parents' info also in fasfa? during my undergrad, I was showing me as dependent and my parents were doiing the same in their tax filing (I guess so).

Thanks for your help.

As far as being late...yeah, but I don't know to what extent it will affect you...different places have different "priority deadlines" usually somewhere around March I believe. I do think for medical school your parents income does not matter. Double check on the website or shoot them an email but I am pretty sure I read that.

Your parents' income doesn't matter for the purposes of federal loans. Your parents' income may matter for institutional need-based aid, depending on your school's policy. Definitely something worth double checking with your school's financial aid office!

Thanks. I plan to submit it this week end.

I have been working only for last few months. Is it OK to show savings $1000?
I spent most of salary and contribute to my family expenditures.

thanks

I feel like those savings/checking accounts are so variable that it really doesn't matter what you put in...and anything under 5 digits probably won't make any difference to them or your EFC so I think that is just fine

Didn't want to make a new topic since my question is related to this..

I'm going to be submitting my FASFA in a day or so. I'm starting school in August 2011, am I going to be okay?

I missed my state deadline (obviously not the federal one since it's June 30), I'm going to a private DO school OOS and I don't qualify for need based/minority/background/etc grants due to my family's income/background.

(I'm really ignorant when it comes to loans/etc because this is my first time applying).

You should be fine.
Most of the schools will not process the applications before may.
I just submitted yesterday. It take 1 day to get it processed and be available for school.
so do not worry.
