Hi guys,
I am an independent PRS grad and failed my written boards this past spring. Unfortunately, my co-residents also failed as did some of our seniors last year and we are struggling to figure out how to approach our studying with the super vague outline/blueprint material provided on the ABPS website. For background, I scored 80th percentile on PSITE this year and 65th percentile last year, with 80th percent of all the CSAT exams correct. I've reached out to independent residents I know at other programs and was alarmed to find that multiple ones had failed two years in a row despite decent PSITE scores and following the REC study material. Unlike general surgery, the outlines from the board are super vague and also don't provide suggested resources to study other than REC, yet this hasn't benefited 5/6 of the people i've talked to.
If anyone can direct us to specific study material or a way to approach REC that is more useful, or a course that we can attend, we would really appreciate it. We feel somewhat at a loss and it doesn't seem like PSITE material is consistent with Boards material anymore.
