So whilst I was in High School I took College courses on the side. Now at the time I wasn't all that serious about school and didn't fully understand how dropping classes worked, but to make a long story short I got an F in Gen Chem 1. I later retook the course and got a B, and ironically decided to major in Chemistry and have had straight As in my OChem and Physics courses since.

Will this early Gen Chem F come back to bite me hard core for Med School admissions? Thank you for any advice!

I was in the same situation as you but I didn’t get an F, but considerably worse grades than I did in college. Nobody at interviews seemed to care or even ask about it and I’ve had a pretty successful app cycle with 14 II.
The only time it might matter is if the grade brings your cGPA or sGPA down enough that you might be automatically screened out by a hard cutoff. Then I would suggest calling the school ahead of time to see if they can make an exception given your situation.

Time is always on your side when it comes to bad grades and med school admissions. You have an obvious upwards trend.

Yes, that F will get figure into your cum and science GPAs but med schools will see that not only was that grade several years ago, but it was during high school when you may not have been mature enough to have taken the course seriously.

How is that F affecting your GPAs? What are they?
