Hi
I am an IMG. I'm a graduate and passed my step 1 and 2 in first attempts but i got my step 3 result few days back and i failed this. I want to know what are the chances of securing a match in next cycle if i have 6 months of usce and 2 publications.

It depends on a lot of things. Are you going to take and pass before the match? Did you get a really good step 2 score?

It certainly lowers your chances. Programs want to have some assurance their residents can take standardized exams and pass boards since board failures start to put the program on scrutiny.

As an IMG with a step failure, you'll be going for the specialties that are the least difficult to match into.

I have 24+ score in step 2. What if i can't retake before match?

Applying with a failed step on your record without rectifying it looks pretty bad. You might get a few programs who forgive it and realize you could probably pass later on, but there are plenty of applicants who do not have a fail on their record.
