Hey y'all!

So, my think didn't brain and I took an online gen chem course at my local college. I thought I would do ok in this class, but I'm not. AT ALL. Ok, so for some history, I have NEVER gotten anything lower than an A- in any of my sciences (HS sciences (all honors) and college), but now I am faced with a teacher that doesn't teach and a class that is very hard and confusing. I took a test yesterday (10% of over all grade) and I got a 42 on it. Lets say some frustration came out and I realized even more to my dismay that I was stupid enough to take an ONLINE science! EEK! So, I'm past the point of no return; I can't drop the course. So, how should I handle this? I want to learn as much as I can from this class, but I know once I get to university next fall I will just retake it. Will this look terrible on my Med-school application? I have a 3.77 GPA right now. It's not its best, but I was duel enrolled for the first year... if that changes anything. Any help and advice would be great!

Many thanks,

Micah

If you drop the course, will you get a W? 1 W will not make/break your application so you should do that rather than take the L in this class lol protect your GPA like it is your first born. MD applications will average out grades so if you have a C- in a class and retake it and get an A-, it will show as a B- which isn't what you are looking for.

No, they are nice enough to only give us a F. :/

.-. Wat

If you can't withdraw, salvage some way to ensure your final grade is a C or above. Use academic resources, ask help, get a tutor etc. There is no point failing this course and having to retake again (where you are expected to get an A on retake)

Did the prof report the average/median? Are you certain grading isn't curved?

Are you sure you can't withdraw? Drop dates for a "D" are long past but the drop dates for a "W" are usually quite late

You can't get a W?!?!? what kind of school are you at?! All I can say is salvage your grade anyway possible. Like Efle said, maybe your grade is curved and your 42 was the average?
