Like quite a number of applicants, I won't get my scores back for Step 2 CS or CK until after the match.

I've looked through the old threads and haven't really found an answer-- what if you fail after matching?

Obviously, you study and take them again. But does your residency program automatically find out about the first failed attempt? Can anyone shed light on their communications with a program? I'd assume some programs are more understanding than others-- and I'm looking at some pretty competitive places, which could make a difference. Does your program automatically hate you for becoming a space occupying lesion (when they could have gotten someone clearly smarter)? Under what circumstances can they escape their match obligations?

Happy to take PMs on the subject.

Not sure, but I also have moments of panic about maybe having failed CS without time to retake. I'm sure programs find out, b/c it's required for your licensing. I assume worst case scenario they un-match you, best case scenario you take the first couple weeks as your "vacation" or maybe have your resident co-sign orders for a humiliating start to the year?

The match is binding. Can't unmatch you. As long as you are "hireable" on Jul 1 you are fine -- some programs will specifically require passage of Step 2 for credentialing, some for licensing, some may not require it at all. They cannot put additional restrictions on you for it. They can watch you carefully, if concerned. Being under a magnifying glass for your first 1-2 blocks is not fun, but can be done.
