Hello,
I want to know from those M-III/IV who rotated in Inova Fairfax Hospital. How was your experience and how much were you allowed to do? I know that it's a private hospital so it may be more difficult to get lots of hands on experience. Please let me know (especially if you are from MCV/VCU) your feelings and thoughts about the whole experience. I am about to sign up for 2 yrs of my rotations in Inova and want to get some info on it.

thank you

Hi there,
I did a second-year pathology fellowship, my third-year internal medicine clerkship and my fourth-year trauma surgery rotations at Inova Fairfax. They were both awesome rotations. The teaching was outstanding and the facility is very, very nice. I had plenty of cases where I was the operating with the attending only. Surgery is very, very busy and there are more than enough cases to go around. In medicine, the faculty were the best teachers that I have encountered. There is a great gym on site and lots of great experiences. The physician's lounge has fresh fruit and coffee at all times. The sleeping quarters are very comfortable and away from noise. Trauma can be pretty busy but lots of good experiences that are meaningful. You can pretty much do as much as you are comfortable with. I was on rotations with residents from MCV, Georgetown, GW, Howard and Inova's Transitional program (off the scale). All around, it's a good place to learn.
