Hey guys,

I am planning on applying for the fall of 2015 and am trying to gather all the information and deadlines pertaining to the schools that I am interested in, but it seems as if all of the information on the respective sites are still for the fall 2014 cycle... or at least I think that is the case. When does PharmCAS and the school's websites update so I can get a better idea of what I need to be doing? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I am mainly looking at the schools in california... are the supplemental applications usually due before the PharmCAS apps?

Since the PharmCAS application opens later this year (I think July 14th) it will probably be updated towards that time. Some schools have different dates that supplemental applications are due. But they are due either the same time as the main PharmCAS application for that school or a little bit later. Supplemental applications are usually not done before you have completed the official application.

no, usually supplemental apps are due after (but some are due at the same time as I remember from 2014 app cycle).

Thanks oldstock! I am actually going through all of the school's websites, and some of them say the filing period for the supplemental applications are closed for Fall 2015... am I just too early and they have not yet come out or did I really just miss it...? One in particular that I am looking at is for UCSD

If I remember correctly, for UCSF and UCSD (for 2014) their supplemental applications were due on the same day as their main application deadline of November 1. And yes you are early.

sorry for all the questions but is there one personal statement that the PharmCAS app requires? it seems as if people already know the prompt, and im just wondering what it is... or does each school require a different personal statement on their supplemental applications? thanks again

I applied for Fall 2014. Most of the supplemental applications seemed to be just survey styled questions. However there are some supplemental applications that require a separate essay portion (these supplemental applications usually are more specific then the overall personal statement). For the PharmCAS app there is only one personal statement for all schools.

Also the personal statement is usually a variation of the same question of "Why is pharmacy for you?" It will ask for experiences from any avenues of your life (i.e. work, school, etc.) and it has I believe a 4500 character limit. So aim for a concise yet powerful essay that can convey why you may view pharmacy as a calling.

tehshield gives you very good info above. I too applied and already got admitted for this coming Fall (class of 2018). But for the question I put in bold here, you only have to write only one personal statement (PS) for your PharmCAS application.

On the supplemental apps, schools would usually ask you to write some sort of essays. Depending on the school, the essay on the supplemental app can be a variation of the PS or something else.

I guess they still have not done very good job of updating their website. When I applied, I was surprised to see that some schools' deadlines for the supplemental were BEFORE their PharmCAS deadlines, e.g. the supplemental app's deadline would be like Dec 15, 2013 and the PharmCAS' deadline would be like Feb 3. I called, they said no no we had not updated the deadline for the supplemental, and that was from last year application cycle. LOL 🙂

But do not worry. The PharmCAS application has not even opened yet for Fall 2015 application cycle. The supplemental application's deadline is, again usually AFTER or on the SAME day as the PharmCAS deadline.

I emailed PharmCAS a few months ago and was told that the 2015 application will open up on July 1st.

I didn't ask. Didn't think to until after I'd already hung up...

They are probably delaying the new cycle several weeks because of the site renovation. They're probably just waiting until the previous cycle information is closed and purged before they can adjust the app layout for the new cycle.
