Where can you find out the application timeline etc for different subspecialties?

Thank Mithra, no.

Good luck! Got any faves?

Thanks, in no particular order: Seattle, Vanderbilt and Yale. I know other people had been talking about PICU earlier this year, anyone still around?

Ed

I'll be applying to PICU next summer, so definitely keep us posted where you end up! I've been looking at Minneapolis and Seattle as well as Vandy, but am avoiding the northeast.

for some reason I had it in my mind that you're in peds EM...not true? or is this a 2nd fellowship? either way, best of luck wherever you end up!

I had always thought Stitch was doing a child abuse fellowship?

Anyhow, best of luck to Ed this year and to everyone else in their future matches. :luck:

Best of luck Ed! I am doing PICU in a couple of years. Of our seniors this year, 4 are doing ED and are excited for match day. No PICU this year (though 5 last year).

I'm doing peds EM as double coverage, but no fellowship. We have an EM fellowship here, and I attend all the conferences and airway courses, but I make twice the pay and don't get boarded at the end compared to the fellows. And I've decided through this (very good) experience that I really like sick patients and ventilator phsiology and could do less with abdominal pain that's been going on for three years. 😉

At one point I was considering child abuse, and still find it very interesting. In fact, the forensic pediatricians where I am pretty much wrote the book on child abuse. But I want to treat patients.

me too 🙂
(and chronic headaches, URIs that started 15 minutes ago, and all the "fussy infants"...)

but overall it's a pretty fun job!

I'm with you though--I think I could have very easily ended up doing a PICU fellowship if I'd liked the one PICU fellowship in town better (didn't want to move). Pediatric intensive care is a great field.

I looked at Minneapolis, it seemed a bit small to me which is why I didn't apply there.

Thanks to everyone for there warm wishes. I'll let you know next week how it goes.

I match in Peds EM tomorrow. Based on your list, I could very well be rotating through your PICU as a PEM fellow. Cheers and good luck!
