Fall GPA Really matters?

well it's optional, but definitely do it if it helps your stats.

not sure if some schools will write you and tell you they want it though before they'll give you an interview

and with a 3.5 and 20/20 i think you'll get quite a few interviews

XXXyour file has already been reviewed. They are considering inviting you for a spring interview, but won't make that decision until we get your fall grades. Do have your transcripts for fall sent to our office as well as AADSAS so that we can get the information to the committee as soon as possible.

That's from Indiana. I hear most schools wait on them....so don't slack off. PS i think I just bombed a test today... ha ha??

If you do not get a pre-dec interview, then I would assume that they are gonna judge you on your fall grades as well. The question for me is that if you get a pre-dec interview, but don't get accepted dec 1st, do your fall grades then come into consideration?

Fall grades may or may not hurt or help you. I had not heard from Pittsburgh or New Jersey as of academic update period last year. I sent my updated grades (four A's - Genetics and three liberal arts classes; my school doesn't do A pluses, although it does do A minuses, stupid) and hoped the upward trend (all A's in that spring and summer, plus the new A's) would get me interviews. It didn't. I think if I had additionally retaken the DAT at that time and improved my score then, I may have gotten interviews ... but obviously my fall semester of A's made no difference at that time.

At my interview at Louisville they told me that they look at the updated grades of the people they interviewed, but didn't accept. Then update their wait-list order based on what they see there. I am sure that any school looking to invite for a post-Dec. interview would want to look at them before making the invite and would also consider them before issuing an acceptance.

hmm interesting.. which schools don't request for fall grades? anyone?

i hope they are.. cause I'm pushing pushhhhhing myself through 25+ units this semester.
Physiology is kicking my butt yo.

The director of admissions @ UCSF said they don't look @ your updated grades when he came for a presentation.

it probably just depends on the applicant pool at different schools... see how many they can narrow down. if your fall grades will hurt you, dont do it. if they will help you, go for it!

So do I HAVE TO update my academic courses after this first term?
or wait till schools ask for it?

If I don't get the acceptance on Dec.1st and on the waitlist,
do I have to send the updated transcript? or is it optional?
