hey all,

my grades will be coming out tonight for this past fall quarter and i was wondering if you all think it would be a good idea to email some schools high on my list directly and attach my grade report to the email?

It wouldn't hurt, but they can't take that seriously until they at least get your transcript from your school. Aadsas will have to update it and send it out to them to make it official. I think your best bet would be to just shoot them an e-mail saying that your quarter grades transcript will be forwarded to the school of your choice.

It will be a waste of time to attach an unofficial grade report to an e-mail.

Actually... you don't have to send transcripts through AADSAS to be official. Just have your school send official transcripts directly to the schools that you want. Email them too, but definitely send the transcripts asap. Going thru AADSAS would take 8 weeks or something crazy like that. Whenever i update my transcript, i've been sending it directly to my top choice school and they accept it.

does it really matter that much? I don't think the schools care THAT much about one semester's grades that they must have it now.

yes it does matter. I know about 3 people that have been told that adcom wants to see their recent quarter's grades before they can make a decision on whether to invite them for an interview or not.

Makes sense, but I only seeing this making a difference if they need to make a gametime decision between several competitive candidates. If it gets to the point where they request your grades, they either want to make sure you're not slacking off since you had an interview(s), or like I said, it's down to you and "the other guy/girl." Given the stats might all be very similar, but if you get A's while person X gets B's, well I'd say you'd come out on top.

So it would be a good idea to send them out...or have I become confused with so much contradiction in this thread😀 j/k

I would send them out. Don't send anything to AADSAS. AADSAS is over as far as you are concerned (cross your fingers)😎

Email a scanned attachment...in the email tell them official school ones are on the way, then send them out ASAP. It certaintly WONT HURT. It might not help BUT IT COULD, so send them out. With Dec 1st two days away they have most likely made a decision...but second round letters are just as nice as dec 1st letters.

Haha, I will clarify my point of view. Yes, have your school forward your transcripts to you dental schools. It won't hurt, and it'll speed up the process if they end up having to ask you for them. So it'll save everyone time, and more or less make you look more responsible.
