Gaaaaaaaaaahh! I can't wait! Is Sept 1 ever going to come? 😉 I'm such a freakin' nerd.

Here is the schedule for Ok-State. I'm feeling too lazy right now to type times but we are essentially in class from 8-4 every day.

Vet Physiology I (first 8 weeks) 4 hrs.
Vet Physiology II (second 8 weeks) 3 hrs.
Vet Histology 3 hrs.
Gross & Developmental Anatomy 4 hrs.
Zootechnology 2 hrs.
Jurisprudence & Ethics 2 hrs.

Only 18 hours so I'm pretty excited about it.

I feel like such a slacker compared to some of these schools that have 8-10 classes first semester! I hope this will be a nice way to get back in the swing of being a student and polishing my very rusty study skills.

LOL...i thought the same thing...and, was trying to figure out what would happen if i turned in my all caps sample =)

It was quite strange...and now I'm wondering why they didn't ask IS students to do the same thing, haha!

🙂 Our IS interviews are SO much different than yours. Well, really, the actual interviews are the same, it's just that we don't get anything else in addition to the interview. No student or faculty panels, equine center tours, pizza dinner. Nada. We had the option to wait around and/or arrive early for a single, very basic tour offered at noon, but that's it. Certainly no time for handwriting samples. 😀

I don't feel like a slacker...I feel lucky! We shall see how lucky (or not) we are come August 23rd.

Just to clarify, we don't take all those courses at once. Some of the just happen for a few weeks within the quarter

We don't know what groups we're in yet, but the First Year schedule is up on CERE just with no links to the syllabi and stuff like there will be eventually. It's also I'm sure quite subject to change.

-link removed so as not to freak people out

cursive still exists? lol

The hardest part of the GRE for me was writing out that agreement in cursive before taking the test. I don't think I've written in cursive since elementary school.

Is kerberos different from your my.ucdavis login? I logged in and it just said "No user record for the current or future terms. Please send an email to [email protected]." Maybe I don't exist.

Get on with that thesis. 😛 Er, I mean, good luck, you'll be fine!

OK, I'll admit it, my excitement is interrupted by periodic moments of terror and convincing myself that I'm going to fail out.

ETA: It took me forever to do the cursive writing thing at MN, and I used almost all of the front and back with my large writing and inability to keep my lines straight and horizontal.

It should be the same login, yes. I wouldn't worry about not having access. I just wasn't sure if everyone had access to CERE or not yet. I have access because I'm still a registered grad student. We aren't registered for our classes until next month sometime! 🙂

I'm not sure how subjects in the US work but we only have 3 or 4 subjects a semester and each subject will have 8-10contact hours/week each. You guys seem to have so many subjects, I guess we do the same it's just condensed into 1 big subject rather than 10 small ones. We don't have our timetable yet, probably get it a few days before semester starts 🙄

Next semester (which I guess is our winter, spring, summer semester? 😛) all subjects are medicine/surgery based, totally glad anatomy/physiology/pathophys subjects are a thing of the past 😛 I'm doing..

Equine clinical studies (year long topic)
Intensive livestock medicine
Ruminant clinical studies (year long topic)
Companion animal clinical studies (year long topic)

I know it! I couldn't remember how to write some letters in cursive so I just wrote them out regularly haha

I'm just the opposite of, well, everybody it seems; my cursive is fine, it's my print that needs work. I never took that hand writing test though or even heard of it. Is cursive really that dead?

Nah, I still write in mostly cursive. Usually it's a lazy hybrid but I can write in entirely cursive, too. I like it better.

Tufts hasn't sent anything yet, but I'm told the schedule is different each week so that'll be something new to get used to. I really wish I had my schedule now!! I'm getting a little anxious about it. All I know is these are our first year classes and we also pick some electives, but we don't have to until 2nd semester:

Gross Anatomy I
Physiological Chemistry
Developmental Anatomy
Clinical Skills I and II
Human-Animal Relationships
Physiology
Problem Based Learning I and II
Adopt-a-Veterinary Student
Histology
Gross Anatomy II
Feeds and Feeding
Immunology
General Pathology
Comparative Anatomy and Physiology
International Veterinary Medicine
Biotechnology

I wish I knew when/how long each of them were, because just looking at this list is super intimidating. :scared:

You have a class called "Adopt-a-Veterinary Student"? What exactly goes into adopting veterinary students?

I have no idea!!! Sounds like it might be fun though 🙂

I believe that the adopt-a-vet student program sends Tufts students to work on a fiber or food animal farm(s) for a few days.

Problem Based Learning I and II all year
Adopt-a-Veterinary Student a weekend or two days spent at a farm you are asked where you have had experience and what you are lacking
Histology second half of fall semester and beginning of spring semester
Gross Anatomy II spring semester
Feeds and Feeding short course (three weeks?) spring semester
Immunology spring semester couple months long
General Pathology spring semester shortish course couple months
Comparative Anatomy and Physiology spring semster three weeksish at end of year
International Veterinary Medicine spring short course
Biotechnology spring

It will be okay! Feel free to PM if you have questions. If you log on to TUSK (from the student page same info as e-mail log in) and go to the bottom of the page and click on first year schedule and go to August the schedule is up. This is likely not the final version so I wouldn't go writing down exam dates yet but it will give you an idea!

Basically you show up to class when your told to and professors come to you.

😛 I did the same. Mostly with weird transitions like how does "b" go into an "r"??? LOL couldn't remember..

I wish Edinburgh had our schedules for us. Apparently nothing is up until a few weeks before classes start. All I know is the Animal Body and the Professional/Clinical Skills class are the first year.

I believe our fall schedule is up here. We have an exam the Tuesday we get back from Labor Day weekend 😱

Pfft my first exam is before any other schools even start ahhhhh

Ah man, I had no idea it was up! Thanks for letting me know where to find my schedule haha! My big sib told me they weren't up yet and that she'd let me know when they were. Oh well! Thanks again!!

Hey AULablover and Wolfpack you guys forgot about ethology too! lol Our Fall schedule is jam packed... get excited ;-)

There hasn't been much else put up yet. I'm waiting for a book list but I've heard it isn't vital to read prior to school starting. Have you found a place to live yet?

When should we make a thread "Class of 2014-how you doing?" for you?? lol
If I'm not mistaken I think they start mid-July. So...mid-July

Sweet avatar btw. Lorises are the best.

Our coating ceremony is this coming Thursday and classes start July 6th

Nah, I still write in mostly cursive. Usually it's a lazy hybrid but I can write in entirely cursive, too. I like it better.

Me too! I have my own hybrid that works for me with some handwriting and some cursive. I write faster in cursive, but neater when printing. I remember on essay tests I would try to print so it would be neat, but if I felt like I was running out of time I would switch to cursive (sometimes in the middle of a sentence) Teachers never complained but when I got the tests back they were a mess.

Well I've been looking through all the syllabi (that's a word right?) of all the classes we have, but they're from last year's classes so I guess all the books might not be the same as this year. I don't think we'll need to start reading ahead of time, but I saw that chapters 1-6 of physiological chem were up from last year, so I might get a head start on that since I sucked at biochemistry.

Also, I'm super intimidated by the schedule (mainly phys. chem)! But we only have 13 exams in total for the semester, so I guess that does seem manageable. And it looks like only 6 classes are graded and the other 4 are pass/fail classes.

I actually just signed a lease today! I'm living with the person that posted the pic on the facebook page. Any luck finding a place?
