I will be a senior next semester. I am not too sure how much time secondaries and interviews will take. Depending on how I choose my classes, I can make my schedule easy or hard. I plan on taking upper-level math, biochem, senior design, TA, and research for credit. Do most pre-meds have a slightly easier workload during their senior semester, and if so, how many credits do they usually take?

I'd like to take an easy course load, but at the moment I have research, TA, grad-level Immunology, perhaps volunteering, and 15-16 total credits planned. I may drop something, but I'd rather not... if only I could move more classes to Spring. Stupid one-time-a-year-upper-level-courses...

It looks like you've kept a decent GPA so far. How busy were you on your worst semester? If you feel being busy before hurt your grades significantly, then I'd try to cut back on something. Otherwise, just do secondaries now (you've got a loooong list to complete) so you'll just have interviews in fall.

I'm going to be a senior in MCD Bio in the fall and I've been dealing with the same issues. I've pretty much figured out a schedule where I have all Mondays and Fridays sans classes, but I'm still taking 19 quarter units so my T, W, Rs are pretty darn full. I do not, however, have a job, as I am a scholarship-using floozie.

My study list:
Molecular Biology
Molecular Parasitology
American Novel (English GE Requirement)
First Civilizations (History GE Requirement)

So even though it's 19 units it should be an easy 19 units. If I had a job I'd probably cut out one class, and I certainly wouldn't be taking my cellular biology laboratory class or a crazy biochem lab or anything.

Good luck to both of us, eh?

I took about my normal workload all of senior year, but the key is that the amount that I cared decreased! Sharply!

I suspect this is what most people do..
