In order to distract ourselves from the panic of how we could have improved our applications (and now it's too late), I thought it might be helpful to have a thread in which we list which schools require fall transcripts and when they want them sent. I'm having trouble these days with reading for comprehension (spent it all on the GRE verbal), so it would be great to have them all in one place.

Do Require Fall Transcripts (All Applicants):
UPenn (as soon as grades are available)
Iowa (postmark by February 1, 2010)
Illinois (postmark by February 1, 2010)

Do NOT Require Fall Transcripts:
Colorado State University
UC Davis (?)
Minnesota

I just found this weird business on the Ohio page:

"Upon completion of all courses, please forward your final transcripts to the above address as well. You do not need to send a transcript after each quarter or semester.

Only applicants that are offered a seat need to submit a final transcript. Please submit final transcript to the Office of Professional Admissions by June 1st."

So I guess that means they don't want fall transcripts? They are my IS school and I feel like now I'm doing all this work in grad school for... ? Sigh.

This is the exact reason I'm apprehensive about doing a grad program next year. 🙁
 
I guess just because they don't want my fall grades doesn't mean I can't talk about how good I did my first semester of grad school at my interview. 🙂

Also, it is sort of a "plan B."

All the pre-med/pre-pharm kids in my class have begun receiving their acceptances, and I am SO FREAKING JEALOUS. Not only do they no longer have to worry about getting into their professional school of choice, they're all running around going "Yah, just have to get C's now, and I'm only gonna take two classes next semester." I, meanwhile, continue to bust my rear for A's in 18-20 hours both this semester and next knowing that schools will see my fall transcripts, as well as my spring trascripts if I don't get in, which I won't know about for SIX MONTHS. I know I'd end up doing this anyways, but it's the principle of the thing!
Okay, rant over. Sorry. +pity+

I hear you! If your professors curve, it might work in your favor. 🙂

It's all good. Just try not to think about it too much. I mean, the pre-allo kids really don't have it that much easier. My SO just got accepted to Louisville's med school and there is a stipulation that he must maintain his GPA at the "current level". He has a 3.9... I feel bad for him... haha okay, not really. My point is, while he is accepted, the med school can later deny him acceptance if they don't feel he has maintained his GPA well enough in his last two semesters.
 
Does anyone else think NC's January 8 deadline for fall transcripts is a bit early?
 
My opinion:

Do well in the fall and send your transcripts to every school where you're still in the runnings regardless of whether or not the school requests them. Just include a letter saying what you've been up to since you applied and that you wanted to include your new grades in case they'd like to consider them.
 
anyone know the deal for kansas, uc davis, western, and michigan about transcripts>
 
I can't find anything on MSU's website about fall transcripts.

The email I got from Davis stated that my application was complete and that interview invitations would be sent out in February - no mention of fall transcripts. This is in their FAQ's:
Grades for course work completed after you have submitted your application (i.e., fall quarter) will not be used to calculate your GPAs for that application cycle.

Also, Minnesota sent out an email saying that they prefer NOT to receive fall transcripts.

lechatnoir said that they received confirmation from KSU that fall transcripts are not needed I believe. Check the KSU thread
 
actually i just called uc davis today and they lady told me that they want fall transcripts sent asap

western's is due no later than jan 29th.

thanks i'll look up kansas...msu i'm guesssing only to those that got the supps?

Davis told me that too. She said you don't have to put a rush on it, but do send it. That makes me very happy b/c this quarter's grades look mighty fine. 😀

I Know Tuskegee requires Fall transcripts as well. Not sure if it is only for AL and KY residents or just every applicant though.

michigan - not sure if you already go this answered but the admissions committee FINALLY got back to me.. almost 2 weeks later, answer is yes

Tufts website says:
"When additional grades become available, please submit an updated transcript."

I am guessing this means yes? Anyone know anything more specific?
 
Anyone know anything about international schools? Specifically RVC and Edinburgh. I can't find any information. Thanks in advance.
 
I'm bumping this, because i'd also like to know whether the international schools need fall transcripts (Edinburgh and glasgow specifically).

No idea, but I sent mine to RVC and Edinburgh just in case
 
This isn't about transcripts....but are we supposed to send schools updates on schedule changes, even if they don't involve required coursework for the school?

For instance, instead of taking a particular course I'm TAing for another. Do I need to tell the schools about this?
 
You guys have compiled a good list here, but remember to ALWAYS check with the individual schools if in doubt. Some of the websites are not particularly clear about Fall Transcripts so just give the schools a call. It can't hurt.
