My friend keeps getting 100% on Step 1 practice tests. Trust me, I find sample questions she hasn't seen before and I watch her to make sure she isn't cheating. Is it normal to get every question correct? Are the practice questions easier than the actual test? Personally, I'd prefer the practice questions to be harder than the actual test. So I'm wondering if she's being lulled into a false sense of security. Thanks for your input.

If you are really getting 100% on all your practice you have no problems..........period.

What do you mean by finding sample questions? How do you create entire practice tests from these sample questions?

It's the friend that's getting 100%, that's the problem.

I know it is the friend. My point is if anyone is getting 100% on all their practice questions then they are doing something right and probably gonna be fine.

I am also curious as to what questions they are using but still......100%......I call :bullcrap:

By finding practice questions, I'm talking about finding sample ones from various websites online. I print the questions out. I keep the answers in front of me on the computer and she writes her answers on paper. Here's some examples of websites I found with free sample questions and answers (this is not everything we used):
http://www.scribd.com/doc/14579391/Quiz-Behavioral-Science
http://www.testprepreview.com/usmle_practice.htm

Also, she's been using First Aid and BRS textbooks.

My only concern is that she is getting her ego boosted but when the actual test comes she won't do as well.

Why not just have her do a couple UWorld blocks or UWorld assessments or NBMEs and then see where she stands? Those are some of the most accurate predictors of step performance since they are specifically geared towards that.

Don't worry, I'm not jealous of her. I'm taking a break year right now post-undergrad and haven't started med school yet. My friend is in med school though and is telling me all about it. I love studying all of this stuff with her. It's fun for me to check her answers because I finally get to be in the teacher role without having to deal with unruly children 😛

Ok, I'll have to tell her about it

She's very shy and she's relying on me to be her study buddy because she doesn't say much to people in class. Obviously, since I'm not in school I don't know all of the ins and outs of things so that's why I'm here.

hey, do update us to let us know her scores when she takes a practice NBME. This has gotten me very curious as to what her NBME and actual exam scores would be. Either she's incredibly lucky or incredibly smart 🙂
