I think they are kind of unnecessarily strict about certain things. I was denied FAP because I took out loans to pay for school tuition. They said it didn't matter that the money went towards my tuition bill, it was still considered "financial aid" so I wasn't eligible.

Moral of the story, their system sucks. I don't think they'd be willing to give you this year's materials, unfortunately.

EDIT: If they say that you're only eligible for the items for the year you opt into the benefit, how are you not eligible to receive the newer materials? Didn't you say you applied again for this year?

I had to include the financial aid given by school too, but only if the amount awarded was more than the cost of tuition. They said amounts more than that is considered "living expenses" and is counted as income.

I assumed they meant the first year that I opt in. After that, I'm just "renewing" the award, not technically "applying." I might give them a call anyways.

They really do suck. They make you jump through so many hoops, and there's lots of loopholes in their system. They can do whatever they want because it's not public money. At least you do qualify and it will become such a great help when you apply. Basically every school will wave your secondary fee, even if you apply to more than the 15 allotted primary applications. So look at that bright side even if you're in another hurdle now. Sorry about that OP.
