I'm eligible for the FAP so I want to take advantage of the discounted MCAT registration fee. I am planning on taking the January 2013 MCAT, but because registration for this date is in October 2012, should I apply for the FAP now?

Bump. Will FAP applied for, as you say, in October, be in effect for Summer 2013 applicants?

No, I believe things are only valid within the calendar year of the year you apply.

But if I wait to apply until January 2013, I'm not sure if the FAP will kick in before the deadline to register for the late January MCAT. I will also be running the risk of not getting a seat.

That's why I'm wondering if I should just apply for the FAP now, register in October for the JAN 2013 MCAT, and apply for the FAP again next year for my primary.

I decided I'm just gonna apply now so I can register for the mcat in October and then apply again next year for my primary. Can't hurt right?

i don't see why they wouldn't award you the thing 2 consecutive years. im sure it will be fine

You can apply and be awarded FAP at max 5 times. You can apply for the FAP and still register for the Jan MCAT but you would have to reapply next year for med apps.

This.

I applied and qualified for FAP in November 2011, using it for the discounted MCAT registration in December 2011 for a May 2012 Exam. I pushed back this exam date multiple times before cancelling it. I had re-applied for FAP in May 2012 and was qualified. I registered for the MCAT again in July 2012 after my second FAP award and was charged the discounted price again. I had also used it for my MD apps when I submitted in July.

Sounds like what I'm doing. Thanks!

I submitted my documents today. Do you know about how long it takes to hear back?

It took less than a week for them to respond with an approval so it doesn't really take all that long.

I already applied for 2012 and was approved, registered for the MCAT, unfortunately when the test date neared I knew I wasn't ready, I'm planning on taking it in late January/Feb if there is a date so your'e telling me I can just go ahead and register for either of those dates now ( to pay the discounted fee) and reapply again comes the new year to take advantage of the waved app fees which can be a huge help when applying, correct me if I'm wrong
