I was wondering where everyone is on the FASFA. I realize that it is something important to do, but I have not yet received any acceptances. Should I put down all the schools that are still considering my application (8), or only my interview schools (2)?

I need help...........🙁

Most of the schools recommend you wait until after Feb 1 to fill out Fafsa. You have to give them time to work out the bugs each year.

Plus you might have more feedback from schools in 3 weeks. (All of us are crossing our fingers. )

Definitely put down the schools that interviewed you, and start checking your status at the other schools before adding them on the list.

OK, I just filled out and sent in my fafsa this week.

My question is that I have not received my W2 forms yet for this year (2002). So I used my income from the 2001 year which, of course, were filed in April of 2002. Is this right or should I have waited to submit this year's? Or doesn't it matter???

If your income changed it might matter. I can't say for sure, but this is from the fafsa Web site:

For the 2003-2004 school year, you will need financial information from 2002. You will need to refer to:

Your Social Security Number (can be found on Social Security card)
Your driver's license (if any)
Your W-2 Forms and other records of money earned
Your (and your spouse's, if you are married) 2002 Federal Income Tax Return - IRS Form 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ, 1040Telefile, foreign tax return, or tax return for Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia
Your parent's 2002 Federal Income Tax Return (if you are a dependent student)
Your 2002 untaxed income records - Social Security, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, welfare, or veterans benefits records
Your 2002 bank statements
Your 2002 business and investment mortgage information, business and farm records, stock, bond, and other investment records
Your alien registration card (if you are not a U.S. citizen)

DON'T FREAK OUT cause you can UPDATE your fafsa after submission!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you find you've made a mistake after submitting your application, you will have to wait until after your application has been processed to make corrections. Corrections can be made through Corrections on the Web at www.fafsa.ed.gov. You must have a PIN to access your Corrections on the Web data.

We value your input regarding your experience with this Web site. If you would like to provide us with feedback on your experience using FAFSA on the Web, or would like to report a potential software error, we would like to hear from you.

Unfortunately, we cannot respond to these e-mails, but we appreciate any suggestions you have for improving this site.

Cacophony beat me to the punch. I had to update mine from last year after I was already in school. Do not wait till the last minute to request a PIN.

Ok, another dumb question.

The "2002 income records" would be your papers that you filed in 2002, right? That means in 2002 I filed 2001's earnings???

Thank God I am not an accountant. I suck at taxes.

Don't we need to wait until we have filled out our taxes or have received out W-2's before we fill out the FAFSA????

You can use estimated numbers too.

No, it means your financial information for 2002, the taxes you file this year about 2002 earnings.

CCHieb - all 8 schools.

Also, these are the type of questions that have been answered in the financial aid forum. Look at the posts there.

If we are going to use estimated numbers.....can we estimate our W-2's also?

Are you filling out the 2002-2003 FAFSA? Or the 2003-2004 FAFSA? Both versions are both online, I think.

I know that a bunch of schools recommend waiting to file the FAFSA, but I kinda remember Yale telling us to file it ASAP after January 1. Does anyone else remember that? It's just kinda weird because I just got off the phone with Cornell and they said they REALLY recommend waiting to file the FAFSA until after you've done your taxes. So when are we supposed to file that damn thing? Blah. 😕

i know this may be a stupid question, but where do we pick up these fafsa forms?
thanx

so damn..it wat true then. it was a stupid question...
thanx dw

Fill out the 2003-2004 version, after all, its for your MS1 year (which will be Fall 2003 and Spring 2004). Use estimated numbers from pay stubs (you need total earnings from 2002 and fed. income tax paid, both found on stubs). Get it filled out fast. Most finacial aid is first come first served.
